Description

Another image obtained with the Televue 2x Powermate. This time I went for a small but pretty powerful (bright) PN that is one of the most interesting PNs in the sky. Funny enough, Dr. Becky just uploaded a video about it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCkPAtyk6yY), so I could show my wife the difference in images that she presented and that I could obtain. Well ... that was funny, since she did not even see (at first) the nebula on my image 😊😊. Yes, it is pretty small, even at 1850mm focal length.

Unfortunately, I missed getting at least some Hα data, which I believe would have improved the image significantly. Maybe I will go for it tomorrow night (clear skies in the forecast) with the 925mm setup, might give as well a good comparison.

Since the PN itself is very bright (relatively) I thought it might be a good idea to take some 30 second exposures as well, which then in practice did not turn out that well, actually the 300s exposures were much much better, just leave the stretch at a low level and more details could be obtained. Which are in fact not that detailed. Still, I am quite ok with the result, no waste of time trying out the new setup. One never knows what you get until you try!

Title: Hα 3.5nm addition at 1x (without the 2x Powermate)

Description: I added a bit more than 1 hour of Hα data obtained with the "new" 3.5nm filter from Baader (replacement for the OIII from them). Took me a while to get them lined up so that I could combine, which is not as easy to do with a final image. The difference is not a big one, but one can see it. I noticed though that other stars in the wide field showed some halos ... well well .. even the Hα filter from Baader is not perfect, very frustrating.
